WI VS AUS MATCH & ANALYSIS

It is not often that we see five-match T20 series between two leading international teams. In fact, when it comes to West Indies and Australia, we just don’t see much bilateral T20 cricket at all. It may surprise you to know that this is the first T20 international between these two teams since March 2018.

Betting predictions and match predictions for West Indies vs Australia T20 series 2021 cannot depend on historical records too much because so much has changed since the time these two teams played.

West Indies has just lost a series at home to South Africa and will be hoping for some better results against Australia. For the visitors, a five-match series against the current World Champions is the ideal preparation for the T20 World Cup 2021.

Match prediction and cricket betting tips for West Indies vs Australia 1st T20 2021. The match is going to be played at the Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St. Lucia on the 9th of July 2021.

WI VS AUS TEAM PREVIEWS
WEST INDIES
West Indies tried to play the kind of cricket that it has become famous for in T20 leagues around the world but it backfired against South Africa. That was a series it should have won by all accounts, however, the batting strategy of just trying to hit every ball out of the ground did not work.

Evin Lewis and Kieron Pollard were the only two batsmen to make some sort of an impact in the series.

The lack of runs from Chris Gayle, Nicholas Pooran, and Andre Russell would be very concerning. West Indies does not have a set opening par either. Andre Fletcher would feel hard done by to be dropped after providing two blazing starts and be replaced by Lendl Simmons.

Simmons also did well but not enough to lock down his place just yet.

Shimron Hetmyer and Jason Holder have not found a regular place in the starting eleven and maybe that can be looked at once more in this series. Fabian Allen is a very useful player to have in the side but an injury forced him out of the decider against South Africa and he may not be able to play in the first match.

West Indian batting is not looking very stable to us right now. The only betting market that we would look at is the Total number of Sixes.

Dwayne Bravo and Obed McCoy had a very good series with the ball against South Africa and picked up wickets by the boatload. Andre Russell has also been bowling regularly and that is a huge positive for the West Indies.

Add Kieron Pollard and Chris Gayle to the lineup as all-rounders and you already have a number of options.

West Indies tried a number of bowlers to help complete their attack and we think they will continue to try out some new faces. Sheldon Cottrell and Kevin Sinclair could be the ones to get a chance in the first match.

Bravo and McCoy to pick up some wickets could be a good betting market to explore.

AUSTRALIA
Australia is going to start its build-up to the T20 World Cup and while a lot of the places in the team are set, there are more than a few players that will be vying to make an impression. Most of the senior players are available for this series and so we will get a fair idea of where Australia stands at the moment.

Aaron Finch has one of the best records when it comes to opening the batting in T20 internationals. He is also the captain and so he is going to get the batting position of his choice. Finch’s form has been up and down but he does have two fifties in 2021 and is scoring runs at an average of 49.25.

Finch’s opening partner is likely to be Josh Phillipe. He is very highly rated in Australia but we think he has not quite proven his worth in international cricket just yet. Matthew Wade, Moises Henriques, Ben McDermott, Ashton Turner, and Alex Carey could be competing for places in the middle-order.

We really hope Australia moves past Matthew Wade but for some reason, he almost always finds a place in the playing eleven despite never taking his chances.

Mitchell Marsh, Daniel Christian, and Ashton Agar are the three players that give this team some real flexibility. Marsh and Agar are almost certain to play but all three could easily play as well.

Mitchell Marsh’s power-hitting has improved incredibly in recent times and he is one of our players to watch out for in this series. Dan Christian and Ashton Agar are excellent bowlers and will be difficult to score off in the Caribbean conditions.

Australia’s bowling lineup is fully loaded. Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa, Rilee Meredith, and Josh Hazelwood could all feature in the playing eleven but there are just as many other quality bowling options in the squad.

Australia could very easily choose to rotate some of its players and not miss a beat or weaken its team at all.
WI VS AUS TOSS PREDICTION
The team that wins the toss is likely to want to field first. 13 out of the 23 ODI internationals played here have been won by the team fielding first. Not a huge advantage but one that should still be considered while placing your bets.
PITCH AND CONDITIONS
The conditions at the Darren Sammy Stadium are quite good for batting. The pitch has some pace and bounce in it that should help the bowlers but also allow the batsmen to play their shots. The weather for this match is expected to be quite good and although a few harmless clouds may be around, we should not have any long interruptions or reduction in overs.

A score of around 170 should be seen as par for the surface.
WI VS AUS BETTING TIPS
West Indies has a good record against Australia but their matches have been played so far back that we would not like to give that too much importance. The recent lack of batting performances from senior batsmen is more troubling and the fact that the West Indian bowling is still unsettled makes us nervous as well.

Australia’s batting has depth and while it may not have the same kind of power as the West Indies, it is still quite powerful. The advantage that Australia’s bowling attack gives it could be decisive.

Bet on Australia to win.
