Australia’s batting remains surprisingly poor. Matthew Wade, Alex Carey, Ashton Turner, Moises Henriques, and even Dan Christian have not been able to get many runs in this series. Aaron Finch struggled but got to a fifty and only Mitchell marsh seemed to have some sort of fluency.

Marsh smashed six sixes and reached his third fifty in the series. That he was able to back it up with three wickets is a testament to his improving all-round game.

To be able to win, Australia will need another similar performance from Marsh or one of its leading batsmen. Individual brilliance has to save Australia because as a team it just does not have the same kind of power or strength that the West Indies does.

Mitchell Starc returning to form was a huge plus but Rilee Meridith has not been the success that his team would have hoped. This means there is scope for changing things around once more. Jason Behrendorff bowled brilliantly and his slower balls were difficult to score off.

Maybe bringing back Hazelwood in place of Merditith and keeping the rest of the lineup same is the way to go for Australia.

PITCH AND CONDITIONS
There is some rain around in St. Lucia and we could have some interruptions but hopefully, the match will still be able to be played. The pitch was flat for the previous match but it was noticeably slower than in previous matches.

A problem of plenty awaits England in the bowling department as well. Adil Rashid is a guaranteed starter leaving plenty of competition for the remaining three places. We think David Willey, Saqib Mahmood, and Chris Jordan will get the nod ahead of the likes of Tom Curran and Jake Ball.

This is a very strong team with depth in batting and plenty of options in the bowling lineup.

PAKISTAN
The ODI series for Pakistan could not have gone worse. The team managed to lose all three matches, had no major contributions from any batsmen apart from Babar/Rizwan, and also comes into this series with the bowlers short on confidence.

Success in the PSL for some of the players involved will help them but starting well is going to be crucial for Pakistan.

It will be interesting to see what batting lineup Pakistan goes with. Babar Azam, Sharjeel Khan, Fakhar Zaman, and Mohammad Rizwan all made runs opening the batting. In the past few matches, Babar Azam has tended to open the batting himself with Fakhar Zaman likely to get the other slot.

Sharjeel Khan may miss out altogether and Mohammad Hafeez will slot in at number four/five.

Mohammad Rizwan should get the number three slot considering the form he is in.

Sohaib Maqsood, Imad Wasim, and possibly Azam Khan will be given the task of accelerating at the end.

That is an exciting top-7 but the dependence on Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan is obvious. Also, if Fakhar Zaman gets out then getting the quick start needed against England is not going to be easy. Sohaib Maqsood was in great form during the PSL but he is also someone that prefers batting in the top-3 and that is just not likely to happen in this series.

The bowling lineup for Pakistan should select itself in normal course. Hasan Ali, Shaheen Afridi, and Haris Rauf are all world-class at their best. Will one bad ODI series affect their position in the team? It may be tempting to play someone like Mohammad Wasim Jr or Arshad Iqbal to give them some experience as well.

PITCH AND CONDITIONS

The weather forecast for this match is excellent and we should not have any trouble getting a full match in. The pitch at Trent Bridge is one of the flattest in all of England and the boundaries are quite short as well. This means that boundary-hitting is going to be key and that could play into the hands of the England cricket team.

A high-scoring match where 190-200 is the minimum teams will be aiming for batting first.

They were helped by having a large total to defend but it is clear that Ireland has improved in this area significantly over the last two years or so.

The hunger in Ireland to qualify for the World Cup and take every opportunity that comes its way is obvious to see.

SOUTH AFRICA
South African cricket has just hit a new low after a successful tour of the West Indies. Losing to Ireland is not something that happens very often, especially not when sides are at full strength. We cannot help but worry about the future of South African cricket at this rate.

Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Keshav Maharaj, Tabraiz Shamsi, and Andile Phehlukwayo all played this match. This is South Africa’s best bowling attack and it was helpless to stop Ireland from scoring freely. Rabada and Nortje asked a few difficult questions at the start but gave away far too many loose deliveries during the end.

Without too much assistance from the pitch, Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi are also struggling to pick wickets. Frankly speaking, there is no way that Phehlukwayo should be playing as a fifth bowler. South Africa did not pull any punches in the previous match and this is why it would have been disappointed to not have made more of an impact on Ireland. Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi, Andile Phehlukwayo, and Tabraiz Shamsi are all first-choice ODI players.

They would have fancied themselves to have gotten more wickets in the 40 overs that they did bowl.

Quinton de Kock was rested and so Kyle Verrayne picked up the gloves. That is a good move considering the amount of cricket that de Kock has played in recent times.

Aiden Markram, Janneman Malan, Temba Bavuma, Rassie van der Dussen, Kyle Verrayne, and David Miller all still form a very strong batting lineup. We have seen this lineup get in trouble against quality bowling attacks in the past but we do not see that happening against Ireland.

We could see a few changes for this match. Will Jacks could get a run at the top of the order, Daniel Lawrence may get a chance to get some game time in the middle order, and two to three players in the bowling attack could also be rotated out.

This sort of experimentation is not going to be weakening the England side at all. There is still a lot of power and depth in the English batting even if some of the senior players don’t play. Phil Salt and Will Jacks could be devastating opening the batting and there are a lot of all-rounders to chip in as needed.

England’s bowling has been led by Saqib Mehmood and he is going to be the main threat once more.

PAKISTAN
Pakistan’s team is under a lot of criticism right now and the players will be desperate to avoid a 3-0 scoreline. There are likely to be at least a few changes as the team searches for answers.

Imam ul Haq seems to be one of the players that are going to miss out. He may be replaced by Abdullah Shafique but he is also a pretty conventional kind of batsman. Shadab Khan is the other player that is in the firing line. Match Tips He is not a good enough batsman to justify being called an all-rounder and his bowling is also average at best.

Usman Qadir is a much better option that is available to Pakistan from an attacking bowler’s perspective.

Faheem Ashraf could also find himself dropped in favor of Agha Salman to try and boost the batting depth.

Whether Pakistan makes these changes or not, the fact remains that it is a conventional batting team that needs to evolve. Sohaib Maqsood is the only player that seems to have the talent to hit sixes regularly but his pedigree in 50 over format is untested.

Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan have to score runs for Pakistan to be competitive.

Hasan Ali bowled with fire and ended up with five wickets. Shaheen Afridi was impressive but he has been far from his best. Haris Rauf has had a quiet couple of matches and maybe Mohammad Hhasnain could be given a chance.

There is no doubt about the bowling potential of this team but it appears as if the team is afraid to make changes.

ENG VS PAK TOSS PREDICTION
The team that wins the toss is going to want to field first. Birmingham is an excellent cricket wicket and should not change much over the course of the match.

PITCH AND CONDITIONS
Birmingham should get a fairly sunny day on the day of the match. There may be the odd shower but overall we should not have a problem getting the entire match in. This is a cricket wicket that generally has a nice amount of pace and bounce in it. The outfield is quite large and the square boundaries can be hard to clear.

This is good news for spinners and short-pitched bowling.
